Marc Moad - Jr/Sr High Special Education Teacher

Marc Moad:  Veteran educator with 16.5 years experience in the education field.  In these 16+ years he has experience in substitute teaching, para-professional teaching assistant, regular education social studies teaching, diverse settings of special education assignments, a variety of coaching positions and some experience in custodial/maintenance and administration.

Marc's undergraduate work began at Southeastern Community College in 1987.  He completed course work in general studies with a focus on social studies.  While at Southeastern Community College Marc competed in 2 years of inter-collegiate baseball.  Mr. Moad graduated from Southeastern Community College in the spring of 1989 earning an Associates Degree.

In the Fall of 1989 Mr. Moad enrolled in classes at Western Illinois University at Macomb, IL.  He began his course work in History, Geography and Education Foundations.  While at WIU he became involved in campus activities such as, student government, intramural basketball, Higgins Hall dorm life and university athletic team following.  Subsequently this is where he would meet and fall in Love with his future wife Nicolette Theodore a resident assistant living in Higgins Hall.  Graduation was officially in the winter of 1991.  After his student teaching experience at Burlington Community High School where he taught Sophomore World Civilizations and coached Freshman football he moved to the Chicagoland area to start his career in the education field.

Marc is an alumni of the Independent School District of West Burlington class of 1987.  He is a member of the district's K12 club.  Mr. Moad returns to the district after a 20 year hiatus.  His present responsibilities include co-teaching several social studies classes, teaching acouple special education department Life Skills courses, maintains several school day supervisions and coaches girls basketball as the assistant varsity coach managing Junior Varsity affairs.  Mr. Moad's family consists of his wife Nicki, and their 4 children, 3 daughters and 1 son.  Alexandra is 11 and is in 5th grade.  Athena is 8 and is in 2nd grade.  Adriana is 7 and is in 1st grade.  Anthony has turned 1 year old last September.

Mr. Moad's career highlights include 15 years of successful classroom teaching, 4.0 graduate level course GPA, the writing of several course curricula, completion of Project CRISS Training (CReating Independence through Student-owned Strategies), completed 4-MAT Brained Based Teaching Strategies training.  Created, developed and was head coach of the girls basketball program at Our Lady Of Tepeyac High School, Chicago, Illinois.  Coached a conference championship for Freshman baseball at Fenwick High School, Oak Park, IL.  Coached several relay and individual track and field conference champions at Lincoln-Way School District 210 New Lennox, IL.  Coached the Maquoketa Freshman Girls Basketball team during their 2006/07 Dubuque League Regular Season Championship run with a 17-2 record.
